A comprehensive case study examining environmental, economic, and scheduling performance of different structural systems applied to the same 14-story mixed-use development in Madison, WI. Conducted by The Neutral Project with funding from USDA Wood Innovations Grant Program and Softwood Lumber Board. The study compares Mass Timber-Steel Hybrid (baseline), All Mass Timber, All Steel, and Post-Tensioned Concrete schemes through detailed structural analysis, cost estimation, scheduling analysis, and whole-building life cycle assessment. Team included Michael Green Architecture, EQUILIBRIUM, Priopta, Arup, RDH Building Science, C.D.Smith, and USDA Forest Products Laboratory.
