UpStream Forestry Carbon and LCA Tool

UpStream is a wood lifecycle calculator that allows designers to make more informed decisions on their material choices. Addressing embodied carbon of wood through a variety of stages, the tool has the potential to lead to more sustainable forestry practices. The spreadsheet tool allows designers to evaluate considerations around biogenic carbon storage, forest carbon sequestration, and custom end of life scenarios. UpStream provides a comprehensive view of wood's carbon footprint by comparing different biogenic carbon storage assumptions, forest carbon sequestration factors, and custom end-of-life scenarios using multiple data sets. Currently in public beta launch, UpStream is a fully open-source tool designed for the LCA community to use, take ownership of, and to improve the tool's calculation methods.
