WoodWorks Index of Mass Timber Connections

This index is a compilation of connections used in mass timber construction, created by KL&A Engineers & Builders in cooperation with Swinerton to facilitate designers' selection of project-appropriate connections. The index categorizes connections into three classes: Class 1 (mass timber elements and structural fasteners), Class 2 (custom steel fabricated elements), and Class 3 (prefabricated proprietary connectors). Connection choices are influenced by aesthetics, load carrying capacity, fire-rating requirements, quality assurance, cost, and constructability considerations.
