City programme design & sustainable procurement

Cities buy enormous quantities of wood, and most of the time no one is asking where it came from or what its true impact is. That is a missed opportunity, because a city's procurement choices can either drive deforestation or help keep forests standing. We help municipalities build sustainable wood procurement policies that they can actually implement, from scoping and staff training through to certification pathways and direct links to suppliers.

Our Sustainable Wood for Cities framework moves past simple certification to weigh species diversity, geographic sourcing, social equity, and carbon. Behind it sits a team with over 50 years of combined municipal planning experience. We have helped Vancouver fold embodied carbon and sustainable material criteria into its rezoning process, built a wood assessment framework for Montreal's procurement department, aligned Galway County's policy with its Climate Action Plan, and run a material flows analysis with Glasgow, with further technical guidance for Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Turin.
