Forest restoration guidance, support & research
Restoration is not just planting trees. Too often that is exactly what it becomes, with little thought for the ecological and social context that determines whether anything survives. We take a different approach. Successful restoration rests on a sound, place based ecological strategy that inspires local people to take part and supports their livelihoods, and that premise sits at the centre of everything we do in this area.
Our restoration work is led by Dr. Sarah Wilson, a forest geographer with nearly two decades in the field and more than 35 peer reviewed publications. We have helped organizations including Conservation International, the World Wildlife Fund, IUCN, and Restor plan, improve, and assess their work across tropical and temperate systems. We have also written the practitioner guides many of them use, including "Where to Restore?", "Assisted Natural Regeneration", and "Applied Nucleation", each one built to turn spatial data and ecological science into clear decisions about where and how to restore.
